Mixing old with new – A new project in Gozo
The clients wanted a fresh new look for their living room in their old town house set in peaceful settings in Victoria, Gozo.
After careful discussions with the clients, I saw it fit to create a soft, neutral background with splashes of bold colours as backdrops. I chose the bold red as a wall feature created with gypsum boarding, as well as inserting interesting abstract paintings, again with a red hue, against the typical Maltese natural stone wall.
Interesting is the water feature I created beneath the spiraling staircase, to create a feeling of greenery and the smooth, relaxing sound of water. Adjoining the water feature I created a red panel as a backdrop for a suspended modern crystal light fitting to create a sense of continuity, and an accent to the staircase.
The modern, yet elegant handrail, accompanied by wooden stair treads and plastered risers, as well as the surrounding features, created an astounding entry feature into the house, beaming of fresh bright colours blending in with the old features.
